The states with the most number of active doctors are California, Florida, Texas, and New York. In 2019, California earned the top spot in this department with approximately 112,906 physicians.
In the same year, however, it was reported that the country would likely experience a shortage of 122,000 doctors by 2032, predominantly because of the soaring population. Although the rural areas would be significantly impacted by this shortage, this projected lack would also be evident in urban and metropolitan areas.
